Freestyle 101: Hip-Hop History explores the genre’s early days through the lens of freestyle rap, featuring artists discussing the history and intricacies of freestyle rapping and performing musical examples along the way. Narrated by Chuck D of Public Enemy and starring Ice-T with a slew of rap legends, the film follows New York battle rapper Iron Solomon and L.A. indie art rapper Open Mike Eagle as they find out firsthand what freestyle skills mean in today’s music industry.
